Recreational Activities on the Banks of the American River

Experience Coloma

Coloma Resort

Experience All That We Offer

We provide a variety of areas to relax and play at Coloma Resort. In addition to the grassy open areas, there are three family-friendly play structures that offer the opportunity for climbing and carefree playtime throughout the campground!

Panning for Gold

Take your chance and strike it rich! The General Store sells gold pans and vials. Complimentary gold panning classes are offered Saturday afternoons from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends. Guests can even try their luck panning in the river on their own!

Rafting, Tubing, Kayaking, and White Water Rafting

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon to cool off in the water or a white water rafting adventure, we have a huge selection of water activities and skill levels to choose from.

Swimming Pool

The pool is a great place to cool off during the summer when you want a break from all of your adventures in Coloma. With plenty of lounge chairs and shaded seating, it’s a great place to bring the kids (especially the younger ones) as a safe alternative to the river. The pool is open seasonally from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The season extends from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

High Ropes Challenge Course

Let our skilled facilitators take you and your group through fun, challenging rope activities that develop strong teamwork and creating problem-solving. Our High Ropes Challenge Course is a unique activity that guests don’t want to miss!

Coloma Experience Program

The Experience Coloma Program is a great way to supplement your trip to Coloma! It allows teachers, tour leaders, and group organizers to choose from a menu of offerings to build on their own curriculum, creating a memorable and unique experience for your group.

Hiking and Biking

We have a range of trails requiring different skill levels and suited for a solo adventure or a family outing. Explore the town of Coloma or hike up to Monroe Ridge and enjoy the view!

Relax by the river and try to catch some fish for dinner! Toss your line into the river right from your campsite. Fishing licenses are required, and the season is open from mid-April to mid-November. Fly fishing with barbless hooks is an option year-round. Bait and tackle are available for sale at the General Store. Don’t forget to let us know how you did and upload your photos here.

Camp Activities

The fun doesn’t stop when summer is over! We offer fun and festive activities to celebrate the season all throughout the year. Decorate your campsite in a competition to win free camping or take a hayride. Fun activities for the whole family or your group are offered.
